'Dorian' is about the inter-relational thing between two people, that you can’t put words on but you know is there. And when you reach the point of no return, and you are sort of swaying, or are suspended, into this weird space of nothingness, and you are still longing for all the good stuff that you had before.
'Dorian' is sort of my construction of that state of mind. Nobody outside this bubble of these two people can see it, so it looks really pretty and great but then if you step into this ring, you see that it’s all sort of falling apart and rotting.
I felt like Dorian was such a beautiful name and… for me, I like to make out my own meaning for a word, imply my own stories to words or names, so in the back of my mind, of course, I knew about Dorian Gray but it was not deliberate or about that character. I am sure it coloured it but it wasn’t about it.
'도리안'은 언어로 표현할 수 없지만 명백히 존재함을 알고 있는 '두 사람 사이의 관계'에 관한 것입니다. 돌이킬 수 없는 지점에 이를 때, 당신은 이 무(無)의 기묘한 공간에 휩쓸려서 떨어집니다. 그리고 한때 가졌었던 모든 좋은 것들을 갈망하게 됩니다.
'도리안'은 이러한 마음의 상태를 제가 명명한 것입니다. 두 사람을 둘러싼 거품 밖에서는 그 누구도 본질을 볼 수 없기에 아름답고 멋지게 보이지만, 고리 안으로 발을 들이는 순간 당신은 그 모든 것이 산산이 부서지고 문드러지는 것을 보게 됩니다.
저는 도리안이 정말 아름다운 이름이라고 느꼈습니다. 저는 어떤 단어에 저만의 의미를 만들고 이야기를 부여하는 것을 좋아합니다. 제 마음 한구석에서는 물론 '도리안 그레이'에 대해 알고 있었지만, 이것은 그 캐릭터에 관한 이야기이지도, 그렇다고 그로부터 독자적이지도 않습니다.
